CSK Breaks 180-Plus Chase Curse

In the match, KKR's captain Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and chose to bat first, aiming to set a substantial target against CSK's struggling batting lineup. However, CSK's bowlers, especially Noor Ahmad, ensured that KKR fell short, restricting them to a modest total.

Rahane managed to score 48 runs, while Manish Pandey and Andre Russell contributed 38 and 36 runs, respectively. KKR ended their innings with 179 runs in 20 overs, with Noor Ahmad taking four key wickets for CSK, supported by Anshul Kamboj and Ravindra Jadeja, who each took one wicket.

The chase was daunting for CSK, as they had not successfully chased down targets of 180 or more since 2019. The innings began with a shaky start, leaving CSK at 60-5 during the powerplay. However, Dewald Brevis steadied the ship, scoring his first IPL fifty in just 22 balls.

Shivam Dube also made a valuable contribution with 45 runs off 40 balls, while MS Dhoni added a crucial 17 not out. Anshul Kamboj sealed the victory with a four off Russell, leading CSK to a two-wicket win at Eden Gardens.

With two matches remaining in the season, CSK will next face the Rajasthan Royals at Chepauk on May 12, followed by their final league match against the Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad on May 18.
