Canada Super 60 Cricket Tournament to Launch at BC Place
Historic Venue for Cricket in North America
Vancouver, Canada - August 1: In a groundbreaking development for cricket in North America, the Canada Super 60 has officially designated BC Place as the venue for its inaugural men's and women's tournaments, as announced by the Super 60 organization.
This decision represents a significant milestone for the Canada Super 60, as it secures one of the country's most renowned and advanced stadiums as its starting point.
Located in downtown Vancouver, BC Place is not merely a stadium; it embodies Canadian sporting history and has hosted numerous high-profile global events, including the upcoming FIFA World Cup 26.
Over the last forty years, BC Place has been the site of various international sporting events, such as the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2015, the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games ceremonies, and ten Grey Cup Championships.
With its retractable roof and top-notch facilities, BC Place will be transformed into an all-weather cricket venue, becoming the first indoor location globally to host a 10-over-a-side cricket tournament.
“BC Place is not just a stadium; it’s a theatre of dreams. The grandeur of the venue inspires athletes, and for our players, both men and women, there couldn’t be a more fitting place to embark on this journey. Vancouver, with its rich nature, diversity, and culture, is set to cultivate a new cricket fan base,” stated Yuvraj Singh.
The Canada Super 60 is the first cricket league globally to include both men's and women's 10-over-a-side tournaments from the outset, aiming to revolutionize competitive cricket in Canada and establish a framework for the sport's expansion in North America.
“We are immensely proud to present BC Place to the cricketing world. Congratulations to the Super 60 team for making this a reality. This partnership signifies our dedication to promoting cricket nationwide and providing exceptional opportunities for Canadian players, especially with the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup approaching in 2026,” remarked Amjad Bajwa, President of Cricket Canada.
“We are thrilled to welcome cricket to BC Place,” said Chris May, General Manager of BC Place. “Hosting the Canada Super 60 is a fantastic chance to highlight the world’s second most popular sport in our beautiful city. As a versatile venue, we continuously seek innovative events that mirror the diversity of our province. This is a significant step towards fostering a more inclusive sports environment in British Columbia.”
The official dates and ticketing details for the Canada Super 60 will be revealed soon. With cricket rapidly gaining popularity in North America, the event is set to deliver not only exciting matches but also a transformative cultural and sporting experience in Vancouver.
