Brazilian Delegation Inspects Kolkata Venue

On Thursday, representatives from the Brazil Football Confederation (CBF) conducted a site visit to the Yuva Bharati Krirangan in Salt Lake, Kolkata, to assess the preparations and infrastructure for the upcoming football match between India and Brazil. The delegation, accompanied by West Bengal's Sports Minister Indranil Khan, evaluated the stadium's facilities and overall readiness.

This inspection is part of the ongoing preparations for the highly anticipated football event, aimed at ensuring that the venue meets the necessary standards to host such a prestigious match.

Sports Minister Celebrates 'Historic' Clash

Earlier this month, the West Bengal Sports Minister referred to the forthcoming match against Brazil as a significant milestone, marking the first time the Indian national team will compete against the five-time World Cup champions. He emphasized that Kolkata, with its rich football heritage, is the perfect location for this landmark event, scheduled to take place at the Salt Lake Stadium just before Durga Puja.

"This is a historic occasion. For the first time, the Indian national football team will face Brazil, one of the top-ranked teams globally. We are fortunate that this moment will unfold in Kolkata, a city where football is not just a sport but a deep-rooted passion and cultural element. This history will be made on October 3, right before Durga Puja," Indranil Khan stated.

"We expect thousands to fill the Salt Lake Stadium to support the Men in Blue against Brazil. The match has been officially confirmed by both teams, and discussions with the AIFF are underway. We will convene again soon to finalize the ticketing process, ensuring it is transparent and accessible to all fans. Previous irregularities in ticketing have been noted, and we are committed to preventing issues like black marketing and corruption by implementing a fair ticketing system, similar to FIFA's methods during the World Cup," he added.

AIFF Officially Confirms Fixture

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has officially announced that the Brazil senior men's national team will compete against India in an international friendly match on October 3 in Kolkata. This event is poised to be a historic moment for Indian football, as Brazil, the most successful men's national team with five World Cup titles, will be the highest-ranked opponent India has faced since the FIFA World Ranking was established in 1992, with Brazil currently holding the fifth position.
