Bihar Rural League: A New Dawn for Young Cricketers in Bihar
Bihar Rural League: A Platform for Emerging Talent
Patna (Bihar) [India], July 5: Rakesh Tiwari, the President of the Bihar Cricket Association (BCA), has highlighted the Bihar Rural League (BRL) as a significant opportunity for aspiring cricketers throughout the state. He pointed out that this initiative is designed to connect grassroots talent with mainstream cricket, offering a well-structured platform for young players from villages, schools, and smaller towns.
Eligibility for the league is restricted to players aged between 13 and 23 who are permanent residents of Bihar. Tiwari referenced the inspiring journey of Vaibhav Suryavanshi, a young cricket prodigy from Bihar, who emerged from a small town and made a name for himself in the cricketing arena through dedication and hard work.
Suryavanshi, who played for RR in the 2025 season, was among the standout performers of the tournament. In just seven matches, he scored 252 runs, including a century and a fifty. His remarkable century against the Gujarat Titans (GT) in Jaipur, where he scored 101 runs off just 38 balls, made headlines. This achievement not only established him as the youngest centurion in men's T20 cricket but also marked the second-fastest century in IPL history, a remarkable feat for a 14-year-old.
Tiwari emphasized that the Bihar Rural League is more than just a tournament; it is a movement aimed at empowering countless young talents to showcase their abilities and aspire for greater achievements.
“The Bihar Rural League represents a golden opportunity for young players across the state. Recently, we have seen how talents like Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who rose from humble beginnings, have made significant impacts,” stated the BCA president.
“This league is structured to provide thousands of players from villages, schools, and local clubs a pathway to exhibit their skills. Our goal is to elevate grassroots cricket into the spotlight and help players aim higher,” he added.
The BCA has announced an extension for the registration deadline for the upcoming Bihar Rural League (BRL). Players can now sign up until July 9, 2025. The original deadline was set for June 20, 2025, and was later pushed to June 27, 2025.
Due to the rising interest from various districts and to ensure that no aspiring cricketer from village lanes or small grounds is overlooked, the deadline has now been extended to July 9, 2025.
“We have decided to extend the registration deadline to July 9 to ensure that no deserving player is left out. The response from districts across Bihar has been tremendous, and we want to ensure that even the most remote villages have the opportunity to participate,” Tiwari remarked.
The registration process is entirely online. Interested players can apply by visiting the official website of the Bihar Cricket Association or through a provided link.
