In an exciting finale, Betkuchi High School from Assam emerged victorious in the junior girls' category of the 64th Subroto Cup, defeating West Bengal's Nandajhar Adibashi Pashili High School 3-1. Key players Milina Brahma, Sayasree Sangma, and Mari Mech led the charge for Assam, while Neha Baroi scored for the runners-up. The champions received a cash prize of Rs 5,00,000, with the tournament now set to transition to Bengaluru for the Sub-Junior Boys competition. Betkuchi High School Claims Victory


Guwahati, Aug 29: In an impressive display of skill, Assam's Betkuchi High School secured the championship title in the junior girls' division of the 64th Subroto Cup, triumphing over Nandajhar Adibashi Pashili High School from West Bengal with a score of 3-1 in the final match held on Thursday.


Milina Brahma (24th minute), Sayasree Sangma (12th minute), and Mari Mech (29th minute) were the key players for the Assam team, while Neha Baroi (21st minute) managed to score the only goal for the West Bengal team.


The champions were awarded a cash prize of Rs 5,00,000, while the runners-up received Rs 3,00,000.


Next, the tournament will move to Bengaluru for the Sub-Junior Boys (U-15) competition, set to take place from September 2 to 11.


The final event was attended by Air Marshal Narmdeshwar Tiwari, SYSM, PVSM, AVSM, VM, who served as the Chief Guest. The Guest of Honour was Mr. Navdeep Singh, an Arjuna Awardee and Olympic Gold Medalist in Javelin throw.


The day began with an impressive performance by the Air Warrior Drill Team (AWDT), followed by a lively cultural presentation from students of the Air Force Golden Jubilee Institute.


In addition to the main awards, Mari Mech from Assam was recognized as the Best Player, receiving Rs 40,000. The Best Coach award went to Chandan Paul from West Bengal, who received Rs 25,000, while the Best Goalkeeper title was awarded to Furchang Lama from Assam, also with a prize of Rs 25,000. The Fair Play Award, worth Rs 50,000, was given to PM Shri Govt. Mahatma Gandhi Senior Secondary School in Andrott, Lakshadweep. Furthermore, Nandajhar Adibashi Pashili High School from West Bengal was honored as the Best School, receiving Rs 40,000.


With the conclusion of the Junior Girls final, the focus now shifts to Bengaluru for the upcoming Sub-Junior Boys tournament, which will be hosted at various venues including the Air Force School, Jalahalli, and the Air Force Station, Yelahanka.
