Bermuda's Remarkable Victory

The Caribbean Pickleball Championship saw Bermuda shine, earning accolades from George Thomas, the president of the Pickleball Association Bermuda. He expressed immense pride in the team's performance and participation, stating, “I am over the moon and so proud of the team. We had great participation, and I loved having all the countries here. There’s a real camaraderie among the islands that you can feel.”

This tournament united various nations from the region, emphasizing both community spirit and competitive play. The Cayman Islands also made a significant impact, finishing as runners-up despite fielding a smaller squad. Star player Stephen Thompson shared the challenges faced by the team, noting, “It was tough with just four of us playing every match against all the countries, dealing with late nights and early mornings.” He added, “But we’re happy to return home with silver and are excited for next year.”

Bermuda maintained its dominance in pickleball by defeating the Cayman Islands 4-0 in a rain-affected final at WER Joell Stadium, successfully defending their Caribbean Pickleball Championship title. Co-captain Manders emphasized the importance of winning at home, saying, “The first success was beautiful, but doing it in front of our home crowd is even sweeter.” He acknowledged the team's hard work throughout the week, highlighting their leadership in the region.

Fisher echoed this sentiment, noting the team's consistency and development. “The region has improved since last year, and it’s incredible to hold the title for a second consecutive year,” she remarked. “We have many talented players, and I’m proud of everyone’s effort. Bermuda aims to lead the charge in the Caribbean and beyond, making our success even more meaningful.”
