Bengaluru Bulls Prepare for Pro Kabaddi League
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], August 20: As the 12th season of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) approaches, Bengaluru Bulls' coach BC Ramesh emphasized the team's commitment to strengthening their defense. He expressed the goal of establishing "one of the best defensive units" in the league.
The PKL season is set to commence on August 29, with the Bulls facing off against Puneri Paltan in their opening match.
During a media event hosted by JioStar, Ramesh stated, "This season, our primary focus has been on defense. We aim to create one of the top defensive squads. We have recruited some of India's finest defenders for the corner positions, along with a few strong backup players."
He added, "The team is well-balanced, and everyone contributes. The atmosphere is fantastic, with raiders and defenders collaborating effectively. There’s a friendly vibe, and no one feels pressured. We understand our team dynamics, and I am confident in our performance this season."
The squad includes notable defenders such as Lucky Kumar, Sanjay, Ankush Rathee, Yogesh, Deepak Sankar, Manish, Satyappa Matti, and Shubham Mahate.
Ramesh also highlighted the significance of PKL in promoting kabaddi, stating, "Kabaddi is now the second most-watched sport in India. It has opened doors for players from rural backgrounds, transforming many into well-known figures. Previously, kabaddi players faced challenges in gaining recognition, but now they are sought after for photos. Various government departments are offering jobs, uplifting not just the players but their families as well. Kabaddi has truly changed lives."
Defender Ankush shared his positive experience working with Ramesh for the first time, noting, "The preparation is going exceptionally well. He effectively explains the game through video sessions, which helps us train accordingly. This season features many young players, and our focus remains on practice."
Raider Akash Shinde praised Ramesh's coaching style, stating, "He has a track record of turning teams into champions and developing young talent into stars. He has created a balanced team by combining a few experienced players with a majority of youngsters. Our corner defenders, Ankush and Yogesh, are exceptional. Our practice sessions are going smoothly, and he knows how to elevate a player to champion status."
