Bengal Pro T20 League Season 2 Postponed Amid Rising India-Pakistan Tensions

CAB Postpones Bengal Pro T20 League
New Delhi [India] - The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) announced on Friday that it has decided to delay the second season of the Bengal Pro T20 League along with all associated pre-events due to increasing tensions between India and Pakistan.
In a statement confirming the postponement, the CAB indicated that a new schedule would be provided after assessing the situation in collaboration with the appropriate authorities.
“Given the current national circumstances, the Cricket Association of Bengal has opted to postpone the commencement of the Bengal Pro T20 League Season 2 and all related pre-events until further notice. A revised schedule, which will include updated venues and match fixtures, will be released following a thorough review of the situation in conjunction with relevant stakeholders and any advisories issued by the BCCI,” the CAB stated.
On Thursday night, Pakistan initiated a series of coordinated drone and missile strikes along India's western border, targeting various areas. Indian defense officials confirmed that these attacks were successfully intercepted by the country's air defense systems, including the advanced S-400 missile defense system, averting significant damage.
These strikes from Pakistan were reportedly a response to India's 'Operation Sindoor,' which was executed earlier in the week targeting terrorist camps in Pakistan after a tragic terrorist incident in Kashmir that resulted in the deaths of 26 tourists on April 22. The CAB expressed its solidarity with the nation, stating, “We wholeheartedly support the efforts of the government and the Armed Forces during these challenging times.”
“In these challenging times, the Cricket Association of Bengal stands united with the nation. We fully support the Government of India and honor the bravery and dedication of our armed forces, whose unwavering commitment during Operation Sindoor serves as a source of pride and inspiration for all Indians,” the statement further emphasized.
On Friday afternoon, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced that the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) would be suspended for one week due to the ongoing situation between India and Pakistan.
“Cricket has always been a unifying force for us, but in times like these, we are reminded that our primary responsibility is to our country. The CAB is deeply committed to the principles of national unity and security, and every action we take will reflect that commitment. We appreciate all stakeholders of the League for their support and shared determination to prioritize national interests above all else,” the statement concluded.
