BCCI Announces Teams for Upcoming Matches

The Men's Selection Committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has revealed the Indian squad for the forthcoming white-ball series against the West Indies, along with the Rest of India team for the Irani Cup against Jammu & Kashmir, as per a BCCI announcement. Naman Dhir, a right-handed batsman, has received his first call-up to the national team, while pacer Auqib Nabi has been selected for his inaugural ODI. The squad features seasoned players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, with Shubman Gill taking on the captaincy role and KL Rahul serving as vice-captain. Notably, wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has been excluded from this selection.


Match Schedule and T20I Team Details

The series kicks off with the first ODI in Thiruvananthapuram on September 27, followed by the second ODI in Guwahati on September 30, and the third ODI in New Chandigarh on October 3. The five-match T20I series will commence in Lucknow on October 6, with subsequent matches in Ranchi on October 9, Indore on October 11, Hyderabad on October 14, and Bengaluru on October 17. Shreyas Iyer will lead the T20I squad, with Tilak Varma as his deputy. Rishabh Pant to Captain Rest of India in Irani Cup

Despite being omitted from both the ODI and T20I squads, Rishabh Pant has been appointed as the captain of the Rest of India team for the Irani Cup match against Jammu & Kashmir. Pacer Akash Deep has also been named in the squad, pending fitness clearance.


Injury Updates and Squad Changes

Varun Chakaravarthy will miss the upcoming T20I against Japan on September 22 due to a side strain, which is part of the celebrations for the 75th anniversary of India-Japan diplomatic relations and the 2026 Asian Games. Vipraj Nigam has been named as his replacement, marking his first international call-up. Additionally, Nitish Kumar Reddy, who was initially part of the Asian Games squad, will now participate in the ODI series against the West Indies.
