BCCI Reveals New Central Contracts for Indian Cricketers
BCCI Announces Central Contracts for 2023-24
On Monday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) unveiled its list of contracted players, featuring 34 athletes. Notably, India's Test and ODI captain Rohit Sharma and star batsman Virat Kohli have maintained their positions in the top tier.
The A+ category, which offers an annual retainership of ₹7 crore, includes prominent players like Ravindra Jadeja and fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, similar to previous years.
Shreyas Iyer, a key player from India's Champions Trophy squad, has made a significant return, now placed in group B, which provides an annual salary of ₹3 crore. Iyer had been sidelined last season for reportedly prioritizing the IPL over domestic cricket.
Wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan, who faced a similar fate, has also returned, now categorized in group C with an annual fee of ₹1 crore.
Rishabh Pant, who was moved to group B last season due to his recovery from a serious accident, has reclaimed his spot in category A, replacing the retired Ravichandran Ashwin. This category offers a retainership of ₹5 crore annually.
Category C boasts the largest number of players, totaling 19, with four newcomers: Harshit Rana, Varun Chakravarthy, Abhishek Sharma, and Nitish Kumar Reddy.
