Bangladesh Triumphs in T20I Series Against Pakistan

Mirpur [Bangladesh], July 23: In a thrilling encounter, the Bangladesh team, led by Litton Das, made history by defeating Pakistan by eight runs in the second T20I, marking their first-ever series win in this format against their rivals.


This victory puts Bangladesh ahead 2-0 in the series.


After winning the toss, Pakistan opted to field first. Bangladesh faced early trouble, finding themselves at 28/4. However, a crucial partnership of 53 runs between Jaker Ali, who scored 55 off 48 balls with one four and five sixes, and Mahedi Hasan, who contributed 33 runs from 25 balls with two fours and two sixes, helped stabilize the innings.


Bangladesh managed to reach the 100-run mark in 16.2 overs.


Unfortunately for Bangladesh, the dismissal of Mahedi led to another collapse, and they were eventually bowled out for 133 runs in their allotted 20 overs.


For Pakistan, left-arm pacer Salman Mirza took 2 wickets for 17 runs, while Ahmed Daniyal and Abbas Afridi claimed 2 wickets each, conceding 23 and 37 runs respectively.


In their chase, Pakistan struggled against the pace attack of Shoriful Islam and Tanzim Hasan Sakib, quickly finding themselves at 47/7 within 11.5 overs.


Faheem Ashraf and Abbas Afridi attempted to mount a comeback, with Ashraf scoring a quick 51 runs off 32 balls, including four boundaries and a six, while Abbas added 19 runs off 13 balls. Together, they forged a partnership of 41 runs for the eighth wicket.


Despite Abbas's early dismissal, Ashraf continued to fight alongside Ahmed Daniyal, who scored 17 runs off 11 balls. Ultimately, Pakistan was all out for 125 runs in 19.2 overs.


Shoriful was the standout bowler for Bangladesh, taking 3 wickets for 17 runs, while Tanzim and Mahedi also contributed with 2 wickets each.


Jaker Ali was awarded the 'Player of the Match' for his impressive half-century.
