Sunrisers Hyderabad: The Team to Beat

Delhi Capitals' captain, Axar Patel, has declared Sunrisers Hyderabad as the leading contenders for this year's Indian Premier League (IPL) championship. This statement came after the conclusion of Delhi's final league match of the season.

Axar emphasized that Hyderabad's formidable top-order batting lineup positions them as the most threatening team in the competition. He cautioned that if their batsmen hit form during the playoffs, they could become nearly unstoppable.

In their last league match, Sunrisers Hyderabad clinched a playoff spot by defeating the league leaders, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, by a convincing margin of 55 runs. Axar remarked, "Hyderabad is a very strong team. When their top three batsmen perform well, they are unbeatable."

Conversely, Delhi Capitals wrapped up their season in sixth place, accumulating 14 points from 14 matches. A string of mid-tournament losses proved detrimental to their campaign. Despite finishing on a positive note with three consecutive victories, it was insufficient for a top-four finish.

This season marks the fifth year in a row that Delhi has missed out on playoff qualification. Axar acknowledged that the team struggled to seize critical moments, noting that defeats against Punjab Kings and RCB, along with a failure to chase a modest target against Gujarat Titans, severely impacted their confidence.

Reflecting on his captaincy, Axar stated, "I've gained valuable insights from this high-pressure tournament. It's essential to maintain team cohesion. If you lose your composure, you risk making poor decisions. Therefore, I strive to remain calm."
