Earlier that day, Philip Green participated in a yoga event led by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar at Nehru Park in Delhi. The event saw the involvement of Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and various diplomats.

In a statement on social media, Jaishankar noted, 'I was pleased to join the Diplomatic Corps at Nehru Park in Delhi this morning to celebrate #InternationalDayOfYoga. As PM @narendramodi stated today, the session was a true reflection of Yoga for everyone, beyond boundaries, backgrounds, age, or ability.'


The Theme of This Year's Celebration

The 11th International Day of Yoga was celebrated on June 21, with the theme 'Yoga for One Earth, One Health,' highlighting the interconnectedness of personal wellness and the health of our planet.


The Global Impact of Yoga

According to a United Nations statement, yoga enhances physical strength, calms the mind, and promotes a greater sense of awareness and responsibility in daily life. This mindfulness encourages healthier and more sustainable lifestyle choices. The UN officially recognized June 21 as International Day of Yoga in 2014 through resolution 69/131.


A Proposal for Global Recognition

The initiative to establish International Day of Yoga was proposed by India and received support from a record 175 member states. PM Modi first introduced this proposal during his address at the 69th session of the General Assembly.
