Australia Secures Series Victory Over West Indies with 133-Run Win
Australia Dominates West Indies in Second Test
In a commanding performance, Australia triumphed over the West Indies by 133 runs in the second Test held in Grenada on Sunday, clinching an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series with one match still to play. The West Indies showed some initial promise during the morning session, thanks to a spirited bowling display from Shamar Joseph, who claimed four wickets and helped dismiss Australia for 243 in their second innings. However, chasing a target of 277 on a challenging pitch proved to be a formidable challenge.
The West Indies crumbled under the pressure, bowled out for just 143 runs. The downfall began early when Josh Hazlewood trapped John Campbell lbw for a duck in his opening over. Mitchell Starc then dismissed Keacy Carty for 10, and the batting order continued to falter.
Kraigg Brathwaite, playing in his 100th Test match, could only manage 7 runs before being dismissed by Beau Webster, a performance he would likely prefer to forget. The decisive moment came when Pat Cummins bowled Brandon King for 14 with a delivery that barely grazed the off-stump.
The West Indies' hopes dwindled further when Shai Hope was caught and bowled by Hazlewood for 17 after attempting a poorly judged pull shot. Although Roston Chase fought back with a resilient 34, including a spectacular six off Starc, his lbw dismissal just before lunch marked the beginning of the end for the West Indies.
After the break, Justin Greaves was dismissed by Starc for 2. Alzarri Joseph managed to hit two sixes off Nathan Lyon, and Shamar Joseph provided some late entertainment with three sixes in his 24 runs, but the result was never in doubt.
Australia's collective effort solidified their dominance in the series, leaving the West Indies searching for solutions ahead of the final Test.
