Australia Announces Squad for ICC World Test Championship Final and West Indies Tour

Key Players Return to Australia's Test Squad
Australia's Test team has welcomed back Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, and Cameron Green as they prepare for the ICC World Test Championship Final against South Africa, followed by a three-match series in the West Indies. Green's inclusion comes after his recovery from back surgery, while Cummins and Hazlewood return from injuries that sidelined them during the Sri Lanka tour earlier this year. Spinner Matt Kuhnemann has been chosen over Todd Murphy to support Nathan Lyon.
Brendan Doggett Joins as Travelling Reserve
Brendan Doggett, who played a pivotal role in South Australia's Sheffield Shield final victory, has been named as a travelling reserve for the squad.
Selectors Express Optimism Ahead of Upcoming Matches
“We are fortunate and looking forward to having Pat (Cummins), Josh (Hazlewood), and Cam (Green) back in the squad. The team finished the WTC cycle with an impressive series victory in Sri Lanka following an equally strong summer in defeating India for the first time in a decade,” said Chair of Selectors George Bailey.
Caribbean Tour Follows WTC Final
The same squad will head to the Caribbean after the WTC Final, starting on June 26 with matches in Barbados, Grenada, and Jamaica. Teenager Sam Konstas, who returned early from the Sri Lanka tour to focus on domestic cricket, is also back in the lineup.
WTC Final Scheduled at Lord's
The World Test Championship Final against South Africa is set to commence at Lord's on June 11. Australia aims to become the first team to secure the World Test Championship title twice, having previously won it in 2023 at The Oval.
Squad Composition and Experience
“It means a lot to the group to reach the final and they are very much looking forward to the challenge South Africa will present at Lord’s,” Bailey added.
Australia's squad boasts significant experience, featuring batters Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith, and Travis Head, along with all-rounders Beau Webster and Green. Alex Carey is confirmed as the primary wicketkeeper, with Josh Inglis serving as the backup.
