Assam Cricket Association Rewards Ground Staff with ₹25 Lakh for IPL Success
Recognition for Dedication Amidst Adverse Weather
Guwahati: The Assam Cricket Association (ACA) has declared a generous reward of ₹25 lakh for its ground staff following their successful management of three IPL matches this season, despite facing tough weather challenges.
The dedicated curator and groundsmen worked diligently to ensure that the pitches were in optimal condition.
Their hard work was crucial for the smooth operation of the matches, significantly enhancing the venue's reputation on a national level.
In a press release, ACA secretary Sanatan Das highlighted this recognition, stating, “Their contributions were invaluable.”
Both ACA president Taranga Gogoi and secretary Das commended the team's professionalism and unwavering commitment, emphasizing that their efforts were key to the successful execution of the games.
The IPL 2026 matches at Guwahati's Barsapara Cricket Stadium faced severe disruptions due to heavy rain and thunderstorms, notably affecting the April 7 match between Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians, which was reduced to just 11 overs per side.
Another match on April 10, featuring RR against Royal Challengers Bengaluru, also experienced significant rain delays, necessitating the ground crew to cover the pitch.
Despite these challenges, the ACA stadium's groundsmen successfully managed to conduct the matches.
