Asia Cup T20 Tournament Announcement

New Delhi/Dhaka: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is preparing to host the upcoming Asia Cup T20 tournament in the United Arab Emirates, with an official announcement anticipated soon, according to sources from the Asian Cricket Council (ACC).

This decision follows a meeting attended by all 25 member nations to finalize the tournament's venue. The BCCI was represented virtually by its vice-president, Rajeev Shukla.

"The Asia Cup will be hosted by the BCCI in the UAE, with India expected to play all its matches in Dubai. Discussions regarding the schedule are still ongoing," an ACC insider revealed under anonymity.

The tournament is slated to take place over a period of just over two weeks in September, concluding before the last week of the month to accommodate India's Test series against the West Indies.

"Rajeev Shukla ji participated in the ACC meeting and will provide updates to the members. I prefer not to speculate, so expect official news in a few days," stated BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia.

In Dhaka, ACC chairman and head of the Pakistan Cricket Board, Mohsin Naqvi, remained tight-lipped when questioned about a potential India-Pakistan match during the tournament.

"We will make an announcement soon. Discussions with the BCCI are ongoing, and we have a few matters to resolve. All 25 members participated in the meeting, either in person or virtually, and we are aligned on the key points," Naqvi informed reporters.

It has also been reported that due to pressure from the BCCI, only two out of ten agenda items were addressed during the meeting.
