Upcoming Asia Cup 2025 Details

India and Pakistan are scheduled to face each other on September 14 during the Asia Cup 2025. Sources have confirmed this exciting matchup. The continental tournament, which will be played in the T20 format, is set to take place from September 9 to 28. On Saturday, Mohsin Naqvi, the head of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), officially announced the tournament dates.

A total of 19 matches will be held in this edition of the Asia Cup, featuring six teams. India and Pakistan have been placed in the same group, while Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan will compete in another group.

Tournament Venue and Hosting Details

According to reports from a media channel, the competition will be hosted at two venues in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) - Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Although the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) holds the hosting rights, the ongoing border tensions between India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh have led to the decision to conduct the tournament at a neutral location. Specific venues for individual matches are yet to be finalized.

It's noteworthy that the previous edition of the Asia Cup was conducted using a hybrid model, as India declined to travel to Pakistan for the 2023 tournament. Sri Lanka hosted nine matches, including the final, while Pakistan hosted four.

ACC Meeting and Group Structure

The decision regarding the Asia Cup's venue was made during an ACC meeting on July 24, which included representatives from all 25 member countries. While the BCCI is the tournament's host, it is being held in the UAE due to mutual agreement between India and Pakistan to compete only at neutral venues until 2027, given the current tensions between the two nations.

According to agreements with ACC broadcasters, India and Pakistan will remain in the same group, providing them another opportunity to face each other in the Super Six stage. If both teams reach the final, there is a possibility of a third match in the tournament.
