Asia Cup 2025 Dates and Venue Announced
Karachi/New Delhi: The men's Asia Cup is scheduled to take place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from September 9 to 28, as announced by Mohsin Naqvi, chairman of the Asian Cricket Council, on Saturday.
According to the draft schedule obtained by a news agency, the highly anticipated match between India and Pakistan is set for September 14 at the Dubai International Stadium.
Both teams are in the same group and may face each other again in the Super Four stage on September 21. India will kick off its tournament against the UAE on September 10, with all matches likely to be held in Dubai.
Group A consists of India, Pakistan, UAE, and Oman, while Group B includes Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Hong Kong. The tournament will feature 19 matches, with 17-member squads allowed, taking place in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
Naqvi, who also leads the Pakistan Cricket Board, shared the news on social media, expressing his excitement: "I am thrilled to confirm the dates for the ACC Men's Asia Cup 2025 in UAE. The tournament will run from September 9th to 28th, promising an exciting showcase of cricket. A detailed schedule will be released soon."
The venue was finalized during an ACC meeting held on July 24, attended by representatives from all 25 member nations.
Although the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is the tournament's host, it will be held in the UAE due to an agreement between India and Pakistan to play only at neutral venues until 2027, given the ongoing cross-border tensions.
As per the agreement with broadcasters, India and Pakistan will be placed in the same group and will have another opportunity to meet in the Super Four stage, with a chance for a third encounter if both teams reach the final.
This edition of the Asia Cup will follow the T20 format, aligning with the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup scheduled in India and Sri Lanka.
