Ashmita Chaliha Advances to Quarterfinals at Malaysia Masters
Chaliha's Dominant Performance
Ashmita Chaliha from India showcased her remarkable skills at the Malaysia Masters, securing a spot in the women's singles quarterfinals. She achieved this by defeating Malaysia's Goh Jin Wei with scores of 21-13 and 21-16 at the Stadium Axiata Arena on Thursday. Beginning her journey from the qualifiers, Ashmita maintained a strong grip on the match against the world No. 55, easily clinching the first game. Despite Jin Wei's efforts to mount a comeback in the second game, the Indian player kept her opponent at bay, concluding the match in straight sets within just 27 minutes, as reported by the Badminton Association of India (BAI).
Upcoming Match Against Kjaersfeldt
Following this victory, Ashmita has reached the quarterfinals of a Super 500 event for the third time in her career. Her next challenge will be against Denmark's eighth seed, Line Hojmark Kjaersfeldt, who progressed after defeating two Indian players, Anmol Kharb and Malvika Bansod, in the previous rounds. Unfortunately, the rest of the Indian players were eliminated in their respective matches.
