Arshdeep Singh Returns to Kent to Hone Skills Ahead of England Test Series

Arshdeep Singh's Anticipation for Test Cricket
Indian left-arm fast bowler Arshdeep Singh is thrilled to be back in Kent, where he previously played county cricket, as he aims to regain his red-ball form ahead of the upcoming five-match Test series against England starting June 20.
At 26 years old, Arshdeep is eager to make his Test debut after being selected for the Indian squad. The team is currently engaged in a four-day practice match against India A at the Kent County Cricket Ground in Beckenham, which commenced on June 13.
Known primarily for his performances in limited-overs cricket, Arshdeep had a successful season in the IPL 2025 with Punjab Kings, who finished as runners-up, and previously represented Kent in the County Championship two years ago.
Reflecting on his training session, he shared, 'My main goal today was to get a feel for my rhythm—how my body responds and how the red ball feels in my hand—since we've been using the white ball for a while. I truly enjoyed it.'
He added, 'As we progress, the intensity will ramp up, making it increasingly challenging for the batters to face our bowling.'
With the absence of retired stars Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, the Indian team will be captained by Shubman Gill, featuring a lineup of young talents like Sai Sudharsan and Yashasvi Jaiswal.
Arshdeep expressed his enjoyment in bowling to his teammates as he refines his red-ball technique, stating, 'Bowling to the batters was enjoyable. They were quite solid, and there was a competitive spirit, even while we focused on rhythm.'
He continued, 'We had to strategize effectively to get them out. Sai is new to the team and looked very solid. The captain is also in good form. I’ll strive to keep improving and get them out more frequently.'
Training with Jasprit Bumrah
Arshdeep emphasized his commitment to enhancing his skills while training alongside the pace bowling leader, Jasprit Bumrah. He remarked, 'Whenever I have the ball, I believe I am the best. However, when you’re part of a bowling attack that includes Jasprit Bumrah, comparisons are irrelevant.'
He added, 'My focus is on how we can elevate each other's games and skill sets to benefit the team.'
Looking back on his previous time in Kent, Arshdeep said, 'It feels wonderful to be back. Initially, there's a comforting feeling, knowing I've spent two months here before. I'm excited to create more memories.'
He described Kent as a tranquil place, stating, 'It's peaceful with not many people around. If you seek tranquility, this is the ideal spot—there's always a gentle breeze, warm sunlight, and sipping hot chocolate in such a setting is pure bliss.'
He also recommended, 'If you have a sweet tooth, don't miss out on churros with your drink.'
The first Test match is set to kick off in Leeds on June 20.
