As the Punjab Kings (PBKS) gear up for their pivotal Qualifier 2 clash against the Mumbai Indians (MI), pacer Arshdeep Singh reminisces about one of his most cherished moments in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He recalls his remarkable four-wicket haul against the five-time champions during a thrilling match in the 2023 season.
For Shreyas Iyer and his dynamic PBKS team, the stakes are high. After finishing the league stage with an impressive nine victories out of 13 matches, they are determined to recover from a significant eight-wicket loss to the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Qualifier 1. A victory in this upcoming match would pave the way for a title showdown with RCB at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
In an interview with JioHotstar and Star Sports, Arshdeep highlighted the 2023 encounter against MI as his defining performance. Defending a total of 215 runs, he dismantled Mumbai's batting order, achieving figures of 4 for 29. A standout moment was when he bowled out Tilak Varma and Nehal Wadhera with consecutive deliveries.
Arshdeep expressed, "That match holds a special place in my heart. It was around the time I made my IPL debut. While defending a target over 220 runs, I took four wickets, leading us to victory at Wankhede Stadium."
When discussing how he copes with pressure, Arshdeep shared that he appreciates the confidence his team has in him during critical moments. "I try to embrace the pressure and enjoy those situations, aiming to deliver the best for the team. While things may not always go as planned, I focus on bouncing back stronger in the next match to contribute to our success," he stated.
Looking forward, Arshdeep is committed to helping the Punjab Kings secure their first IPL title. "This season, my aim is to play a key role in Punjab's success and establish a lasting legacy for the team in the future," he remarked.
This season, Arshdeep has participated in 15 matches for PBKS, claiming 18 wickets with an average of 24.11 and an economy rate of 8.62. His best bowling figures this season stand at 3 for 16.
