Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India] - June 1: As Punjab Kings (PBKS) prepares for their crucial Qualifier two match against the Mumbai Indians (MI), pacer Arshdeep Singh shared insights about his most cherished Indian Premier League (IPL) game. He recalled his impressive performance where he took four wickets against the five-time champions during a thrilling encounter in the 2023 season.
Shreyas Iyer's PBKS, which dominated the league stage with nine victories out of 13 matches, is eager to recover from a disappointing eight-wicket defeat to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Qualifier one. Their goal is to secure a spot in the title match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
During an interview on JioHotstar and Star Sports, Arshdeep highlighted the 2023 match against MI as his favorite, where he played a pivotal role in defending a total of 215 runs. His remarkable bowling figures of 4/29 included a memorable moment when he bowled out Tilak Varma and Nehal Wadhera with consecutive deliveries.
"My debut was special, but the match against Mumbai Indians at Wankhede stands out. They were chasing around 220 runs, and I took four wickets, leading us to victory. It holds a special place in my heart," he expressed.
Arshdeep also discussed how he copes with pressure, stating that he appreciates the trust his team places in him during critical moments. He aims to enjoy the game and deliver positive outcomes for his team.
"I try to remain calm and enjoy the moment, striving to achieve good results for the team. While it doesn't always go as planned, I focus on doing my best in the next match to help us win," he added.
Looking ahead, Arshdeep expressed his ambition to assist Punjab in clinching their first IPL title and establishing a lasting legacy for the franchise in the years to come.
In the current season, Arshdeep has played 15 matches for PBKS, taking 18 wickets with an average of 24.11 and an economy rate of 8.62, boasting best figures of 3/16.
