Arsenal's Gesture of Respect for Liverpool

Arsenal's manager, Mikel Arteta, has announced that his team will pay tribute to Liverpool by giving them a guard of honour in recognition of their Premier League title victory, according to reports from a leading sports outlet.

Following a disappointing defeat to Paris Saint Germain in the Champions League, the Gunners are eager to regain their momentum as they prepare to face Liverpool, who have already secured the Premier League championship.

For the third consecutive year, Arsenal is on track to finish in second place in the league. They currently hold a slim three-point lead over Manchester City, who are set to play against Southampton, a team already facing relegation this weekend.

In his pre-match comments, Arteta acknowledged that while Arsenal has made strides in European competitions, their performance in the league has not met expectations.

“We have improved in the Champions League compared to last season, but we still fell short of our goal to win it,” he stated, as reported by the sports outlet.

“In the Premier League, we’ve regressed. The points we’ve accumulated indicate that we haven’t performed as well as we did last season,” he added.

Over the past two seasons, Arsenal has amassed over 80 points, achieving 84 in the 2022/23 season and 89 the previous year.

“We are in a strong position,” he remarked, referencing the current squad.

“With the points we've gathered in recent seasons, we could have claimed two Premier League titles,” he noted.

“We are not far off; we are in contention. The statistics we are producing are those that typically lead to championships. We need a bit more luck, perform better, and hope that others do not surpass us,” he explained.

“A lot of elements need to align in your favor, especially in critical moments. We’ve worked to enhance our margins. The greater the margins, the tougher it becomes for the opposition,” he added.

Arteta also commended Liverpool, confirming that his team will honor them with a guard of honour.

“They truly deserve it,” he remarked, as quoted by the sports outlet.

“Liverpool has been the superior team, demonstrating remarkable consistency. What their coaching staff has accomplished is impressive and commendable,” he continued.

“In sports, sometimes one team outshines the others, and it’s essential to recognize and accept that while striving to reach their level,” he concluded.

“Experiencing near misses with significant trophies is part of the journey, and it should motivate us to excel in upcoming competitions,” he added.
