UEFA Champions League Round-Up

Prague [Czech Republic], November 5: In the latest UEFA Champions League fixtures, Premier League champions Arsenal and Manchester City both celebrated victories, while Liverpool experienced a narrow loss in their fourth-round match on Wednesday.

Arsenal secured a 2-1 victory against Slavia Praha, moving up to third place in the standings. Meanwhile, Manchester City triumphed over RB Leipzig with a score of 3-2 at the Etihad Stadium. In contrast, Liverpool succumbed to a 3-2 defeat against Fenerbahce in Istanbul.

Arsenal vs Slavia Praha

The Gunners took control early, with Noni Madueke scoring in the 9th minute and Viktor Gyokeres adding another in the 38th minute during a dominant first half. However, Slavia Praha responded strongly in the second half, registering 17 shots compared to just one in the first half, according to Sky Sports.

Arsenal's defense held firm, featuring a crucial goal-line clearance from Gabriel Magalhaes and impressive saves from David Raya, who thwarted Oskar Kubiak's attempt. Wiktor Nowak's close-range effort in the 90th minute raised tensions, but Arsenal maintained their lead. They remain unbeaten in the tournament with three wins and a draw, totaling 10 points, just two points shy of leaders Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).

Manchester City vs RB Leipzig

A comical own goal by Castello Lukeba in the 37th minute gave Manchester City an early advantage. Ridle Baku equalized for Leipzig in the 49th minute with a clever finish that caught Gianluigi Donnarumma off guard.

Enzo Fernandez restored City's lead in the 58th minute, heading in a cross from Iliman Ndiaye. Just three minutes later, Antonio Nusa leveled the score again with a low shot into the bottom corner from inside the box.

Erling Haaland's close-range finish in the 78th minute ultimately secured the win for Manchester City, marking their third victory in four matches and placing them seventh with nine points. This goal was Haaland's 13th against RB Leipzig in nine encounters, the highest tally he has against any team.

Fenerbahce vs Liverpool

In a surprising turn, Liverpool opted to rest key players like Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz, which exposed their defense. They initially took the lead twice, first through 19-year-old Trey Nyoni in the 19th minute and later with Isak's goal in the 69th minute.

However, both times, Fenerbahce responded with equalizers from Mason Greenwood in the 29th minute and Archie Brown in the 73rd minute. The Turkish side clinched the victory in the 79th minute with a header from Vedat Muriqi following a high cross. Liverpool now sits in eighth place, just below Manchester City, suffering their first defeat in the UEFA Champions League this season.
