Armand Duplantis Makes History with Fourth Consecutive Indoor Pole Vault Title

Historic Achievement at World Athletics Indoor Championships

Torun [Poland], March 22: Armand 'Mondo' Duplantis has etched his name in history at the World Athletics Indoor Championships by becoming the first man to win four consecutive indoor pole vault titles, while also setting a new championship record.

As reported by Olympics.com, the competition for the gold medal narrowed down to Duplantis and Greece's Emmanouil Karalis after Australian Kurtis Mascharll attempted to secure bronze with a height of 6.00 m.

Karalis, buoyed by his personal best of 6.17 m achieved at the recent home championships, successfully cleared heights of 6.10 m and 6.15 m. In contrast, Duplantis effortlessly surpassed both heights on his first try.

When Karalis was unable to clear 6.20 m on his first attempt, Duplantis soared to a remarkable 6.25 m, breaking his own championship record of 6.20 m set in Belgrade in 2022.

Karalis, once again, had to settle for silver, marking his third consecutive second-place finish at the world championships, having previously claimed the same position at the World Indoor Championships in Nanjing 2025 and the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo 2025.
