This insight came during a podcast discussion with Shubhankar Mishra, where Arjun shared details about his cricketing journey and aspirations for the future.
Transition to Lucknow Super Giants
Recently traded from Mumbai Indians to Lucknow Super Giants in exchange for Shardul Thakur, Arjun is expected to be part of the playing XI in the upcoming IPL 2026 match against Delhi Capitals. Despite being the son of cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, he acknowledged that he has yet to have a standout season in the IPL.
Inspiration Beyond Family
When asked about his cricketing inspirations outside of his father, Arjun named Yuvraj Singh. However, when questioned about Yuvraj's bowling, he clarified, "He was a spinner, while I am a pacer."
Relocation for Better Opportunities
Arjun shared that his move away from Mumbai cricket was motivated by the desire for more consistent playing time. "Every player seeks more opportunities; no one wants to remain on the sidelines," he stated.
He emphasized that regular game time is essential for his growth as a player, and his relocation was a strategic decision to take on more responsibility and enhance his all-round skills.
Gaining Experience in IPL
During his time with Mumbai Indians, Arjun had limited playing opportunities but gained significant experience by working alongside seasoned cricketers and coaches. When asked if he felt he deserved more chances after performing well in his limited appearances, he responded, "All a player needs to do is work hard and capitalize on the opportunities that arise."
