Arjun Singh Claims Victory in Under 18 Boys Singles


In a remarkable display of skill, Arjun Singh emerged victorious in the Under 18 Boys Singles final during India's first Junior Pickleball Championship, sanctioned by the Indian Pickleball Association (IPA) as a PWR 400 event, held at the Dinkers Pickleball Academy in Ahmedabad on June 13. Arjun, who is also the men's singles champion at the IPA Nationals, secured the title by defeating Vivan Patel with a score of 21-7 after a series of impressive matches. His journey began with a 15-5 win over Atharva Seth, followed by a commanding 21-8 victory against Panth Thakkar in the second round. He then advanced to the final after overcoming Kiaan Contractor 21-14 in the semifinals.


Vivan Patel also had a commendable run to the finals, starting with a 15-8 win against Arhaan Mehta and then defeating Dev Shah 21-9. He secured his place in the final by beating Purvansh Patel 21-16 in the semifinals. However, in the final match, Arjun's performance proved too formidable, allowing him to claim the Under 18 Boys Singles title decisively. In the third-place playoff, Purvansh narrowly defeated Kiaan 15-13 in a tightly contested match.


This championship is a significant milestone for pickleball in India, marking the country's first junior national event. The performances at this tournament are expected to play a crucial role in the selection process for upcoming international competitions, including the Pickleball World Cup scheduled to take place in Da Nang, Vietnam.
