Arjun Singh Shines at Indian Open, Advances in Men's Singles
Arjun Singh's Remarkable Performance
Sixteen-year-old Arjun Singh, a rising star in pickleball, has successfully moved into the Round of 16 in the Pro Men's Singles at the Indian Open, a prestigious event sanctioned by the Indian Pickleball Association (IPA). This competition took place at CrossCourts in Hyderabad on April 1. Arjun, who holds the title of national champion in the Open Men's Singles, previously showcased his talent while representing Bengaluru Blasters during the inaugural season of the Indian Pickleball League held in New Delhi in December 2024.
On the first day of the Indian Open, he secured his spot in the next round by defeating Rashein Samuel with a score of 11-8. After his victory, Arjun expressed his gratitude, stating, “It was a wonderful match and a very great experience. I really want to thank Global Sports for organising such a big tournament and giving us the opportunity to play at a higher level. The match was really great. I won 11-8. Thank you so much, Rashein, for playing.”
Rashein reflected on his performance, noting that a slow start hindered his chances. “I ended up losing 8-11. It was a good match but I started a little slow. First down, 1-8, then I made it 8-all, but I think it was a little too late. I should have kept a little momentum,” he admitted. He added, “I guess you just learn from losses. Hopefully next time I start a little better. Congrats to Arjun, always a pleasure playing against him.”
The Indian Open, organized by Global Sports, stands as one of the largest pickleball tournaments in India, featuring over 1,100 participants competing in 54 categories, with a total prize pool of $50,000.
