Annu Rani's Stellar Performance

In Bhubaneswar, Odisha, during the Indian Open 2025 World Athletics Bronze Level Continental Tour, Olympian Annu Rani showcased her exceptional skills by clinching the women's javelin throw title, as reported by a sports news outlet.


Competing at the Kalinga Stadium, Rani achieved a remarkable throw of 62.01 meters. Following her were Sri Lanka's N D.L.Hatarabag Leka with a throw of 56.27 meters and Deepika at 54.20 meters. Notably, Rani had recently marked her return to form with a throw exceeding 60 meters in Poland, her best performance in nearly two years.


In Bhubaneswar, the 32-year-old athlete recorded two impressive throws over 60 meters, including a 61.01-meter throw in her second attempt.


Men's Javelin and Long Jump Highlights

In the men's javelin throw, Sri Lanka's Rumesh Pathirage emerged victorious with a throw of 86.50 meters, surpassing the World Championships qualifying mark of 85.50 meters. Pathirage had previously secured a bronze medal at the NC Classic in Bengaluru last month.


Shivam Lohakare was the top Indian performer, finishing second with a throw of 80.73 meters, while Sumeda J Ranasinghe from Sri Lanka took third place with 80.65 meters. Sachin Yadav and Yashvir Singh followed in fifth and sixth places, respectively.


In the men's long jump, Murali Sreeshankar triumphed with a season-best leap of 8.13 meters, overcoming a strong challenge from Shahnavaz Khan, who finished second with a jump of 8.04 meters, marking his entry into the 8-meter club.
