Anna Leigh Waters' Unstoppable Streak

Anna Leigh Waters, currently ranked as the world's top player, has made headlines by extending her remarkable unbeaten streak in women's singles on the PPA Tour to an impressive 670 days. This achievement was highlighted during the Carvana Championship at the Greater Zion Cup held at Black Desert Resort in Utah on March 29, where she also secured her 43rd career triple crown.

Waters showcased her exceptional skills by clinching titles in all three categories, maintaining her unbeaten record in singles for nearly two years. Her last loss in women's singles occurred against Salome Devidze at the Texas Open, after which she has amassed 24 gold medals, including her latest victory at the Greater Zion Cup.

In the women's doubles final, Waters teamed up with Anna Bright to deliver a stellar performance against the fourth-seeded duo of Parris Todd and Kate Fahey, winning decisively with scores of 11-3, 11-3, and 11-0. The top-seeded pair dominated the tournament, allowing only 15 points across five matches.

Waters faced a challenge in the women's singles final against Fahey, who surged to a 10-0 lead and won the first game 11-8, marking the first time since last May that she managed to take a game off the World No. 1. However, Waters quickly regained her composure, winning the next two games 11-3 and 11-2 to secure the championship title. "This week I was battling some things, but I honestly kept telling myself, ‘If I have to die on this court, I will,’" Waters remarked after her victory. "Kate was playing absolutely insane, and I was just trying to battle for every point," she added, emphasizing her determination.

This latest triumph further solidifies Waters' dominance on the tour. She is set to participate in the PPA Tour Asia’s MB Hanoi Cup starting April 1, marking her first appearance in Asia. Her involvement is anticipated to enhance interest in the region, where pickleball is experiencing rapid growth due to an increase in tournaments and player participation.
