Tata Mumbai Marathon Welcomes Olympic Champion
The Tata Mumbai Marathon (TMM), recognized as a World Athletics Gold Label Race, is set to take place on January 18, 2026, and has appointed Olympic Champion Andre De Grasse as its International Event Ambassador for this milestone 21st edition.
De Grasse, one of the most celebrated sprinters of his time, adds his inspirational presence to Asia's premier marathon, enhancing the event's international reputation, as stated in a TMM announcement.
Known for his thrilling finishes and calm demeanor under pressure, Andre De Grasse is a global athletics figure whose journey continues to motivate countless individuals around the world.
His remarkable story began from modest origins, where he was first spotted sprinting in basketball shoes at a local competition, a pivotal moment that launched his extraordinary career.
Today, De Grasse is among the top athletes in the world, boasting an impressive collection of seven Olympic medals. His rise to fame began at the Rio 2016 Olympics, where he earned silver in the 200m and bronze in both the 100m and 4x100m relay.
He solidified his legacy during the Tokyo 2020 Olympics by winning Gold in the men's 200m and achieving podium finishes in the 100m and 4x100m relay. Most recently, at the Paris 2024 Olympics, he demonstrated leadership by anchoring Canada to Gold in the men's 4x100m relay.
In addition to his Olympic success, De Grasse has excelled at the World Championships, securing six medals over five events, including a Gold at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Eugene, which further establishes him as a leading sprinter of his generation.
