Rayudu's Bold Recommendation

Former Indian cricketer Ambati Rayudu has expressed a strong opinion regarding Rajasthan Royals' opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, stating that he is being overshadowed by his 15-year-old teammate, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. Rayudu believes that for Jaiswal to reach his full potential, a transfer to another franchise, such as the Mumbai Indians, would be beneficial.

Jaiswal, who has represented India in 55 international matches and is a consistent member of the Test squad, is currently participating in his seventh season of the IPL. In contrast, Sooryavanshi is just beginning his second season.

Despite Jaiswal's commendable performance, scoring 426 runs in 15 matches, he has been eclipsed by Sooryavanshi's remarkable form, which has seen him accumulate 680 runs, even outpacing Virat Kohli.

Ravichandran Ashwin from Rajasthan previously noted that Jaiswal's game has been negatively impacted by the intense competition with Sooryavanshi. Rayudu reiterated this viewpoint during a discussion on an ESPN Cricinfo show.

"Jaiswal should consider changing teams. Every time he bats alongside Vaibhav, he tends to be overshadowed," Rayudu remarked. "Jaiswal is a significant talent in his own right. If he joins another team, he could be a match-winner. He requires his own space and platform, as Vaibhav will continue to outshine his teammates."

Rayudu further mentioned that Rajasthan needs to find a senior player who can support Sooryavanshi's rapid ascent without competing against him.

He specifically pointed out that the Mumbai Indians would be an ideal fit for Jaiswal if he decides to leave Rajasthan. With discussions surrounding Rohit Sharma's future at Mumbai, Jaiswal is seen as a potential successor in the Indian ODI lineup.

Additionally, Jaiswal has roots in Mumbai, having played his domestic cricket there, including in the Ranji Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy, and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Rayudu believes that a move to his home team, the Mumbai Indians, would be advantageous for both Jaiswal and the franchise. Since 2020, Jaiswal has been a key player for the Rajasthan Royals.
