Exciting Exhibition at Melbourne Park

Melbourne, Australia - On January 14, just days ahead of the Australian Open's main draw, Melbourne Park hosted an exhilarating event known as the '1 Point Slam.' This unique tennis exhibition saw amateur player Jordan Smith emerge victorious against five professional competitors, including the reigning champion Jannik Sinner.

As reported by Olympics.com, the '1 Point Slam' featured a thrilling contest between amateurs and seasoned professionals, boasting a substantial prize pool of 1 million Australian dollars.

The format was simple yet intense: only one point determined the winner, with professionals allowed just a single serve. Notable players such as Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, Coco Gauff, and Iga Swiatek participated in this exciting showdown.

Jordan Smith's remarkable performance included a victory over two-time champion Sinner, delighting the enthusiastic Australian crowd at Rod Laver Arena as he claimed the prize money.

Smith's journey to the title included eliminating Sinner, whose serve failed to clear the net. He then faced US Open finalist Amanda Anisimova and Pedro Martinez in the semi-finals. In the final match, he competed against world number 117 Joanna Garland, who had previously defeated former grand slam finalists Alexander Zverev and Nick Kyrgios, as well as Paris Olympics silver medalist Donna Vekic, to reach the title match. Ultimately, the Sydney native secured the championship.

The draw for the Australian Open is scheduled for January 15, with the main competition commencing on Sunday.
