Alyssa Healy's Stunning Farewell: Australia Completes ODI Sweep Over India
A Grand Farewell for Alyssa Healy
Hobart: In a spectacular finale to her ODI career, captain Alyssa Healy scored an impressive 158 runs, leading Australia to a decisive 185-run victory over India in the final match of the series, completing a 3-0 whitewash.
Healy's remarkable performance, alongside Beth Mooney's unbeaten 106, propelled Australia to a formidable total of 409 for seven after they were put in to bat.
In response, India struggled to chase the daunting target of 410, getting bowled out for 224 in just 45.1 overs, thus concluding the three-match series without a win.
Healy, who will retire after the upcoming pink-ball Test against India in Perth on March 6, has amassed 3,777 runs in 126 ODIs, including eight centuries and 19 half-centuries.
Despite an early loss of Phoebe Litchfield (14), Healy and Georgia Voll (62 off 52) formed a solid partnership, adding 134 runs for the second wicket.
The duo of Healy and Mooney then combined for 145 runs for the third wicket, setting the stage for a massive score.
In her 126th ODI, Healy's eighth century was marked by 27 boundaries and two sixes off 98 balls.
Voll contributed with seven fours and a six, while Mooney's innings included ten boundaries and one six.
Annabel Sutherland (23) and Nicola Cary (34 off 15) also made valuable contributions towards the end.
For India, Sneh Rana (2/66) took two wickets, while Shree Charani (2/106) became the third bowler in ODI history to concede over 100 runs.
India's chase faltered as they lost wickets consistently, with vice-captain Smriti Mandhana departing early in the second over.
Pratika Rawal (27 off 21) and Jemimah Rodrigues (42 off 29) managed to add 54 runs for the second wicket, but the innings fell apart after Rawal's dismissal.
Rodrigues, who was looking good with nine boundaries, was caught at short fine-leg while attempting a sweep shot.
Harleen Deol (14) also failed to make a significant impact.
Captain Harmanpreet Kaur could only score 25 off 33 balls before being dismissed LBW by Alana King.
Richa Ghosh (18) and Kashvee Gautam also struggled as the required run rate proved too steep.
Towards the end, Deepti Sharma (29 off 47) and Sneh Rana added 63 runs for the eighth wicket, but it was insufficient as India never gained the momentum needed for a successful chase.
Deepti was dismissed LBW by King in the 40th over.
Rana, who was brought into the squad for this match, made an immediate impact with both bat and ball, taking 2/66 and scoring 44 off 74 balls, although it was in a losing effort.
India had previously lost the first two ODIs by margins of six and five wickets, but they did secure a 2-1 victory in the preceding T20 series.
Australia now leads the multi-format series with 8-4 points, with the trophy being awarded based on points accumulated across T20s, ODIs, and Tests.
