Alix Truong and Parris Todd Advance to Women's Doubles Final at Veolia Texas Open
Truong and Todd's Impressive Journey
Alix Truong, alongside her Columbus Sliders teammate Parris Todd, has made significant strides on the PPA Tour in the U.S. They reached the women's doubles final at the Veolia Texas Open following a hard-fought semifinal victory on March 14. Competing in Texas, the duo showcased their skills in a thrilling match, overcoming the ninth-seeded team of Mari Humberg and Milan Rane with scores of 11-6, 4-11, 11-7. The match was a rollercoaster of momentum, requiring both players to maintain their composure during the crucial moments of the final game.
Humberg and Rane entered the semifinal with high spirits after a stunning upset against the second-seeded pair of Jorja Johnson and Tyra Black in the quarterfinals. However, they faced a more focused and resilient team in Todd and Truong, who excelled under pressure.
This achievement is particularly meaningful for Truong, who at just 21 years old, is now competing in her first PPA Tour final on American soil. This milestone adds to her impressive resume, which already includes four titles from the PPA Tour Asia circuit. For Truong, this semifinal win signifies her growing prowess in the sport and her ability to adapt across different tours.
“It feels amazing,” Truong expressed after the match. “Parris is incredible, and I’m thrilled to have this opportunity to play alongside her. She really stepped up in that third game, and I’m so happy we made it this far.”
The partnership between Todd and Truong is still in its early stages, as this marks only their second tournament together in 2026. Their previous outing ended in disappointment with a Round of 16 exit in Cape Coral, Florida. Instead of dwelling on that setback, they used it as a chance to learn and grow.
Todd shared insights on their improvement process, stating, “We took a moment to evaluate what we needed to enhance and how we could work better as a team. Now that she’s officially a Slider, the timing couldn’t be better. I’m just glad to have her on my side.”
The trust and clarity between them seem to be yielding positive results. Todd’s experience combined with Truong’s increasing confidence has created a balanced partnership, evident in their semifinal performance. However, they face a formidable challenge in the final against the top-seeded duo of Anna Leigh Waters and Anna Bright, who secured their spot with an 11-5, 11-8 win over Catherine Parenteau and Rachel Rohrabacher in the other semifinal.
