Akash Chopra's IPL 2025 Best XI Selection
Former Indian cricketer Akash Chopra has announced his Best XI for the IPL 2025 following the tournament's conclusion. Surprisingly, he has not included Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill and Delhi Capitals wicketkeeper-batsman KL Rahul, both of whom had outstanding seasons. Despite their impressive performances, neither player made it to the playing XI.

In Chopra's IPL 2025 selection, three players from RCB and one from Punjab Kings made the cut. He chose Virat Kohli and Sai Sudharsan as openers. Sai Sudharsan was the Orange Cap winner, scoring 759 runs in 15 matches, while Kohli amassed 657 runs in the same number of games. Notably, Shubman Gill, who scored 650 runs in 15 matches, was left out despite his stellar performance alongside Sudharsan.
Additionally, KL Rahul, who scored 539 runs at an average over 53 in 13 matches, was also omitted. He played effectively as both an opener and a middle-order batsman. Chopra included Jos Buttler at number three and Shreyas Iyer from Punjab Kings at number four.
For the middle order, Surya Kumar Yadav was selected at number five, having scored over 25 runs in every match for Mumbai Indians. At number six, he included young talent Dewald Brevis from Chennai Super Kings, who made a significant impact in a few matches.
Chopra also selected Krunal Pandya for his all-round capabilities, as he played a crucial role in RCB's victories, earning three Player of the Match awards. As a bowler, he included Jasprit Bumrah, regarded as one of the best in the world, and Noor Ahmad, who took 24 wickets in 14 matches for Chennai Super Kings, finishing second in the Purple Cap race.
Prasidh Krishna Also Makes the Cut
Chopra included Prasidh Krishna, who took 25 wickets in 15 matches and was the Purple Cap winner. Josh Hazlewood was also part of the Best XI, having performed exceptionally well for Royal Challengers Bangalore, claiming 22 wickets in 12 matches. For the impact players, Chopra chose Mitchell Marsh, Hardik Pandya, Naman Dhir, and Harpreet Brar.
