Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, a two-time Olympian, expressed that the expectations placed upon him ahead of the Asian Games serve as a significant motivator. He feels that the responsibility of achieving success for India, along with the associated opportunities and rewards, fuels his determination to excel.
Announcement of the Shooting Team
On Thursday, the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) revealed the 30-member shooting team representing India at the 20th Asian Games, which will take place in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4.
Tomar's Thoughts on Performance
"I have numerous thoughts about performing well; everyone has high expectations. I aim to elevate India to the top. When attending such major events, where the government promises job opportunities or financial rewards, these thoughts energize me positively," Tomar shared.
Training and Preparation Insights
Reflecting on his training for the Asian Games, Tomar noted that it is progressing effectively, focusing on technical skills and fitness. He emphasized the importance of delivering his best performance and securing a medal for India.
Tomar mentioned that he is well-acquainted with managing pressure and pays close attention to environmental factors like wind speed and direction to ensure precision in the 50m rifle event.
"Training is going exceptionally well. The Indian camp is ongoing, with a primary focus on technical skills and fitness. This is one of the most significant events in every Games, so I must perform at my best and win a medal for India," he stated.
"There is certainly a lot of pressure, but we know how to handle it. When I approach the 50-meter range, I assess the wind's speed and direction," he added.
