AIFF and Odisha Government Renew Partnership to Enhance Youth Football Development
Renewed MoU for Youth Football
The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has officially renewed its partnership with the Department of Sports and Youth Services (DSYS) of the Odisha Government through a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This agreement aims to further develop elite youth football in the region. The signing took place between Vijay Yeddula, the Director of Sports at DSYS, and M Satyanarayan, the Deputy Secretary General of AIFF. AIFF's Technical Director, Syed Sabir Pasha, was also in attendance, as noted in a recent press release.
AIFF Expresses Gratitude for Ongoing Support
Satyanarayan expressed appreciation for the Odisha Government's ongoing support, stating, "We are immensely thankful for the trust shown by the Government of Odisha in renewing this partnership. The achievements from our initial cohort are evident—players trained at the AIFF-FIFA Talent Academy have progressed to elite academies and represented India at the U17 level at just 15 years old. We have already witnessed talented youngsters from Odisha making significant contributions. This is merely the start. With this renewed agreement, we aim to build on our success and elevate Indian football further."
Framework for Future Success
The renewed MoU builds upon the initial agreement established in November 2023. The AIFF-FIFA Talent Academy has already shown impressive results, including a semi-final finish in the U17 AIFF Elite Youth League 2024-25, four players being part of the India U17 national team, and an Odisha girl advancing to the India U19 Women's National Team—all achieved in less than two years. The new agreement introduces a structured framework that outlines specific roles, governance, performance metrics, and financial obligations.
Defined Roles for Enhanced Development
Supported by FIFA's Talent Development Scheme, the academy will continue to implement international development standards, sports science, and clear pathways to professional football. The AIFF will oversee the technical and operational aspects of player development, while DSYS will offer institutional, financial, and infrastructural support, as stated in the release.
