Aditya Tare Urges Delhi Capitals to Learn from Past Mistakes Ahead of KKR Match
Aditya Tare's Advice to Delhi Capitals
Former cricketer Aditya Tare, who played for the Mumbai Indians, has advised the Delhi Capitals (DC) to avoid repeating their previous errors as they gear up to face the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their IPL 2026 match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi this Friday night.
During an appearance on Star Sports, Tare expressed that the Delhi Capitals have had a challenging season thus far and emphasized the need for improved discipline in their forthcoming games to revive their campaign.
"The Delhi Capitals have struggled this season. They must steer clear of making the same mistakes in their upcoming matches," Tare remarked as a JioStar expert.
He also highlighted that the pitch conditions could significantly influence the match's outcome, particularly due to KKR's formidable spin bowling attack.
"A slow, turning pitch might not favor them, as Kolkata excels in spin bowling. The nature of the surface will be crucial," he added.
Tare elaborated that a typical wicket at Arun Jaitley Stadium usually supports batting while providing some assistance to fast bowlers early in the game, which would benefit the home team.
Conversely, a pitch that turns could give KKR a strong chance in the match.
"If the pitch behaves like a standard Arun Jaitley Stadium wicket, offering a good batting surface with some help for new ball bowlers, Delhi will have the advantage. However, if the pitch grips and turns, KKR will be very much in the game," he stated.
KKR's Matheesha Pathirana Update
In other news, KKR mentor Dwayne Bravo provided an update on Sri Lankan pacer Matheesha Pathirana, indicating that the bowler is "close to playing," but emphasized the importance of timing.
Pathirana, who recently rejoined the team after recovering from an injury, has become a focal point ahead of the match.
Acquired for Rs 18 crores, Pathirana has yet to play for KKR this season, and his absence has impacted the team's pace options, especially with Indian pacer Harshit Rana also sidelined.
During the pre-match press conference, Bravo commented on Pathirana's status, saying, "He is very close to playing, but we do not want to rush him due to the nature of his injury. We all want to see him back, but timing is crucial. It's fantastic to have someone of his caliber back in the group."
