Adani Group Enters Professional Golfing Arena
Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], March 29: The Adani Group is making its debut in Indian professional golf with the introduction of the 'Adani Invitational Golf Championship 2025', in collaboration with the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI), which is the governing body for men's professional golf in the country.
This initiative by the Adani Group aims to enhance the accessibility of golf, elevate its profile as a mainstream sport, and nurture the next generation of global champions from India, as stated in their press release.
The first tournament, featuring a prize pool of Rs 1.5 crore, is scheduled to take place at Jaypee Greens Golf & Spa Resort in Greater Noida from April 1 to 4, 2025, marking PGTI's return to this venue after a gap of 11 years.
Pranav Adani, Director of Adani Enterprises Limited, expressed enthusiasm about partnering with Kapil Dev Ji and PGTI to foster the growth of professional golf in India. He emphasized their commitment to making golf more accessible and providing world-class training and competitive opportunities.
Kapil Dev, the PGTI President, expressed gratitude towards the Adani Group for their support in launching the Adani Invitational Golf Championship 2025, stating that their backing will help produce more champion golfers who will represent India on the global stage.
Amandeep Johl, CEO of PGTI, described the championship as a pivotal moment for the tour, thanking the Adani Group for their sponsorship and vision to create more opportunities for Indian professionals. He anticipates an exciting week of golfing action at the championship.
A pre-tournament event is set for March 29, 2025, at The Belvedere Golf & Country Club in Ahmedabad, where five leading PGTI professionals will host a golf clinic for 50 children from The Adani International School, promoting the sport among the youth.
Kapil Dev will also attend this event to emphasize the shared goal of the Adani Group and PGTI in developing golfing talent in India.
Additionally, the partnership includes the establishment of a joint Adani-PGTI golf training academy at the Belvedere Golf & Country Club in Ahmedabad, aligning with Adani's commitment to grassroots development and supporting India's bid for the 2036 Olympics.
