Indian cricketer Abhishek Sharma has made history by surpassing Bhuvneshwar Kumar to become the player with the most 'Player of the Match' awards for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).


This milestone was reached during an Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, where he scored an impressive unbeaten 135 runs off 68 balls, featuring 10 fours and 10 sixes, achieving a strike rate close to 200.


Abhishek Sharma's Record-Breaking Day

With this latest accolade, Abhishek has now earned his seventh Player of the Match award in just 81 matches, overtaking Bhuvneshwar's six awards from 145 matches. Currently, he leads the season with the Orange Cap, amassing 323 runs in seven innings at an average of 53.83 and a remarkable strike rate of 215.33, which includes a century and two half-centuries.


Additionally, he has become the fourth player in SRH history to reach 2,000 runs for the franchise, now totaling 2,076 runs in 81 matches and 78 innings, with an average of 28.83 and a strike rate of 168.64.


Ties with Virat Kohli for T20 Century Record

Abhishek's ninth T20 century ties him with the legendary Virat Kohli for the most centuries in this format by an Indian player. He shares this record with Kohli, Sahibzada Farhan, Riley Rossouw, and Quinton de Kock, all of whom have also achieved nine T20 centuries.
