Abhishek Kumar Claims First Professional Win with Stunning Final Round at PGTI NexGen 2026
Abhishek Kumar's Remarkable Comeback Victory
Faridabad (Haryana) - On February 26, Abhishek Kumar delivered an impressive performance at the PGTI NexGen 2026, finishing with a remarkable bogey-free score of eight-under 64 in the final round. This outstanding achievement took place at the Aravalli Golf Club, where he staged a thrilling comeback to secure his first professional victory.
The 24-year-old golfer from Panchkula, who started the day tied for 10th and trailing by eight strokes, showcased his skills with eight birdies, including five consecutive ones, to conclude the tournament with a total score of seven-under 209.
Abhishek's two-shot victory marked a significant milestone in his career. Aditya Raj Singh Chahal, who led the tournament by five shots going into the final round, finished in second place with a total of five-under 211 after carding a 74. Jujhar Singh secured third place with a score of two-under 214.
Throughout the final round, Abhishek excelled with his tee shots on the Par-4 holes, setting up birdies with precision. He began with an early birdie on the second hole and then achieved five consecutive birdies from the seventh to the eleventh holes, adding two more on the 16th and 17th.
Chahal, who was leading after the second round, managed to score an eagle and a birdie but faltered with a bogey and two double-bogeys, which diminished his chances of victory.
Reflecting on his performance, Abhishek stated, “I aimed to shoot five-under to stay in contention. However, after my streak of five birdies, I felt a surge of confidence. After birdies on the 16th and 17th, I knew I just needed to par the 18th to win, and I accomplished that. My driving, iron shots, and chipping were exceptional.”
He also expressed gratitude for the support he received, particularly from his sponsor, Tushar Narang, stating, “This win restores my self-belief after my earlier struggles at the DP World PGTI Qualifying School in January.”
