Jamwal's Stellar Performance in Brazil

Abhinash Jamwal showcased an exceptional performance against Italy's Gianluigi Malanga, securing his spot in the finals of the 65kg category at the World Boxing Cup held in Foz Do Iguacu, Brazil.

The 22-year-old Indian boxer effectively utilized his height and agility to evade Malanga's attacks, seizing opportunities to strike when his opponent's defense faltered, ultimately winning by a unanimous decision of 5-0 on Friday.

Four out of five judges scored the match with a perfect 30 for Jamwal, unanimously awarding him the first and third rounds. Malanga faced a countdown in the opening round, which put him at a disadvantage for the remainder of the match.

On Thursday, Hitesh made history by becoming the first Indian to reach the finals after defeating French Olympian Makan Traore in the 70kg division.

Hitesh is set to compete against England's Odel Kamara, while Jamwal will face local favorite Yuri Reis in the finals. Unfortunately, Manish Rathore's journey in the 55kg category concluded in the semifinals, where he lost 0-5 to Kazakhstan's Nursultan Altynbek.

This event marks the first global elite boxing competition organized by World Boxing that features Indian boxers. The 10-member Indian team has demonstrated its prowess on the international stage, with two boxers reaching the finals and four others advancing to the semifinals.
