RCB, the team that became family to me, are the champions of the IPL. Well, it feels good to say that."
He shared that the moment was more than just a victory, as it represented the culmination of dreams and efforts from fans, leadership, and the entire team.
A Special Moment with Virat Kohli
De Villiers recounted a poignant moment with Virat Kohli during the celebration, saying, "As if the night hadn't already stirred every emotion, there was Virat, standing at long off, right in front of me. Our eyes met for a brief moment, and that was all it took. We did not need words."

The former batter expressed pride in the performance of skipper Rajat Patidar and Devdutt Padikkal, who began their IPL careers during de Villiers' final years with RCB. He noted their potential and excitement, stating, "They have turned that promise into history, and I could not be prouder."
