Aarush Nitture Dominates at Grand Prix Mumbai

Aarush Nitture emerged victorious in the Men's Singles 19+ Advanced category at the Grand Prix Mumbai, decisively defeating Varun Mittal with a score of 11-2 in the final match. What makes Nitture's achievement remarkable is not just the victory itself, but the ease with which he secured it. He dominated his pool, winning all matches without losing a single game, including impressive victories over Satya Narayan (11-1) and Aabhaas Mehta (11-2).

In the Round of 16, Nitture showcased his skills by blanking Rohin Premchandani 11-0, a feat he replicated in the quarter-finals against Vaibhav Maurya. His semi-final match against Kartik Juneja was the closest contest he faced, ending with a score of 11-3.

Varun Mittal also reached the final in strong form, having won all his matches comfortably, including an 11-5 victory over Aabhaas Mehta in the semi-finals. However, during the final, Nitture's sharpness prevailed, allowing him to secure the title without allowing Mittal to establish any rhythm.

The Grand Prix Mumbai featured a total of eight divisions, categorized into Open and 19+ Advanced for both men and women, across singles and doubles formats. Each division utilized a round-robin format during the pool stage before advancing to knockout rounds.

This event is part of a PWR 700-sanctioned series that will span 13 cities, offering a total prize pool of up to Rs 50 lakh along with ranking points. In addition to the singles categories, which contribute to the IPBL's Road to IPBL pathway, the tournament provided a competitive platform for doubles and Advanced-tier players, complete with pool stages, knockout rounds, and ranking points available at each event.
