Aaron Finch Critiques KKR's Performance After Playoff Elimination
Finch's Take on KKR's Situation
Following the cancellation of the match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), which resulted in KKR's exit from playoff contention, former Australian cricketer Aaron Finch expressed that the team has no one to blame but themselves. KKR needed to secure victories in all their remaining matches, with Saturday's game being particularly vital. Achieving two wins would have brought them to 15 points, but they also required favorable results in other matches.
Aaron Finch's Criticism of KKR
Finch remarked, "Their start was not promising. Andre Russell, known for his match-winning capabilities, was batting too low in the order for much of the tournament. He wasn't given the chances to impact games as he usually does. They can only blame themselves for this situation," during his commentary on JioHotstar.
He further noted, "After their last game against CSK, they must have felt frustrated – it was a match they could have won. They were close to sealing the victory, yet they failed to finish, leading to a remarkable win for Chennai. Throughout the season, KKR faced numerous instances where they simply did not perform as expected."
KKR's IPL 2025 Journey
In the IPL 2025 season, KKR's performance has been inconsistent. They have played 13 matches, securing 5 wins and suffering 6 losses, which has resulted in a total of 12 points. With a net run rate of 0.193, they still had a chance to compete for the playoffs, contingent on other match outcomes. Although they won two of their last three games, they also faced a loss and had two matches end without a result. As the league nears its conclusion, KKR aimed to enhance their performance to boost their playoff chances, but the washed-out match against RCB marked them as the fourth team to be eliminated from playoff contention.
