Global Energy Leadership Summit Concludes in Puri
Puri: The inaugural Global Energy Leadership Summit (GELS) 2025, aimed at fostering interstate energy collaboration, wrapped up in Puri on Sunday. The event saw the introduction of the draft Puri Declaration and the signing of four pivotal Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) to enhance India's transition to clean energy.
The draft Puri Declaration, shaped by discussions over the two-day summit and contributions from the Union Power Ministry and the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, signifies a significant advancement toward establishing a sustainable cooperative framework for India's clean energy future.
Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo expressed gratitude to the attending dignitaries and shared his optimism regarding the declaration's potential. He remarked, “The consensus-building process for the Puri Declaration is in progress, and once finalized, it will represent a collective commitment that no state can achieve this alone—and our mutual pledge is that none will have to.”
During GELS 2025, four strategic MoUs were established to propel Odisha's clean energy initiatives. These agreements include partnerships for renewable energy pilot projects with NTU Singapore, GRIDCO, and IIT Bhubaneswar; the creation of a Green Hydrogen Centre of Excellence in collaboration with GRIDCO, ReNew, IIT Bhubaneswar, and Avaada; and a renewable energy development alliance involving NIRL, OREDA, and GEDCOL.
