Union Minister Emphasizes Economic Growth and Self-Reliance Amid Global Challenges

Focus on Economic Growth and Resilience

On Thursday, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted the importance of maintaining focus on the nation's objectives and economic development. He emphasized the need for determination to tackle global upheavals while promoting self-reliance.

Speaking at the 12th Annual Public Affairs Forum of India (PAFI), Vaishnaw, who oversees information technology, railways, and broadcasting, pointed out that a pressing question for policymakers today is how to effectively respond to the rapid changes occurring worldwide.

He stated, “This is a fascinating time. We must keep our attention on what we need to achieve in our country. We need to consider how we want to grow our economy and strengthen ourselves to withstand the storms in the world... so that we are robust enough to navigate our ship through these significant tempests.”

In a subsequent discussion, the minister noted that the Prime Minister has emphasized development alongside self-reliance. He remarked, “We should widely adopt products made in India. Additionally, we must ensure that our industries receive the support necessary to be resilient against any global turmoil.” Vaishnaw also stressed the continuous focus on talent development.
