Jaipur. The University of Engineering and Management (UEM) in Jaipur organized a tree plantation event aimed at promoting environmental conservation, with enthusiastic participation from over 100 faculty members, staff, and students. This initiative was overseen by NSS Program Officer and Director of Physical Education, Prof. Dr. B.S. Yadav. The event was a collaborative effort involving the National Service Scheme (NSS), the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA), the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) Student Chapter, and the UEM Jaipur Green Club.


The program commenced at 10:15 AM with an awareness session that highlighted the importance of environmental protection, sustainable lifestyles, biodiversity conservation, and the collective responsibility to safeguard nature for future generations.

A significant aspect of the celebration was the extensive tree planting campaign across various locations within the university campus, where approximately 100 plants were planted by students, faculty, and staff, reaffirming the university's commitment to enhancing green cover and maintaining ecological balance. Additionally, around 50 water containers for birds were placed in suitable areas on campus to provide drinking water during the summer and to promote sensitivity towards urban wildlife.


The event also included a cleanliness drive, where participants collectively cleaned different areas of the university campus. This activity emphasized the importance of hygiene, proper waste management, environmental cleanliness, and sustainable practices. The enthusiastic involvement of the university community helped raise awareness about individual responsibility towards environmental conservation and a clean, green future.


On this occasion, UEM Jaipur's Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Biswajoy Chatterjee stated that educational institutions play a crucial role in promoting environmental awareness and sustainable development. He appreciated the active participation of students, faculty, and staff, emphasizing that such initiatives contribute to nurturing environmentally responsible citizens.


Registrar and Provost Prof. Dr. Pradeep Kumar Sharma remarked that the university's lush campus reflects its commitment to sustainability and environmental protection.


Prof. Dr. B.S. Yadav, the NSS Program Officer and Director of Physical Education, expressed happiness over the enthusiastic response from participants. He stressed that every conservation effort, no matter how small, plays a vital role in protecting the environment and building a sustainable future.


Prof. Deepa Mukherjee, the UBA Coordinator at UEM Jaipur, noted that environmental sustainability is directly linked to community development. She mentioned that such initiatives inspire students and citizens to adopt environmentally responsible habits in their daily lives and contribute to the country's sustainable development goals.


The program concluded with a collective pledge from all participants to actively contribute to the conservation of natural resources, protection of biodiversity, reduction of waste, and environmental sustainability.
